Popcorn can actually be a really healthy snack option if you avoid all the added butter. The best way to do that is to make homemade popcorn.
For years, I had an air popper. I recently bought a new one in a similar model, but it just didn’t work as well. It shot unpopped kernels all over my kitchen.
Sure, there are options like Skinny Pop or even just 100 calorie packs of microwaveable, but I just was not a fan.
A few days ago I stumbled across a video on Tiktok of a woman making popcorn in the microwave using just a brown paper bag, kernels, & butter!!
I decided to try it. Adding the butter was just a complete mess. It completely soaked into the bag and left a butter residue in my microwave. BUT, then I tried it without the butter and success!
All you do is throw about 1/4 cup popcorn kernels in a brown paper bag, fold down the end a couple times & stick in the microwave for about 2 minutes.
After that you can add whichever toppings you want, whether that be melted butter, or my preference: Tapatío hot sauce.
This is so much easier than when I expected. I thought the only way to make homemade popcorn was either an air popper or on the stove with some oil. This dirties no pans!
