Healthy Morning Routine

Sharing is caring!

Establishing a healthy morning routine is such a great way to start your day. If done right, it can set the tone and help you stay on track with your goals.

Over the years I’ve established my own healthy habits that I do every morning to get started on the right foot.

It’s my favorite part of the day and, honestly, my whole day feels out of whack if I don’t accomplish at least most of these things first thing in the AM.

How I make my mornings more productive:

MY healthy morning routine

These 10 habits help me have a productive morning which in turn, leads to a more productive day.

Wake up early

I wake up at 4 am EVERY morning. I know it sounds crazy, but it's key. If you need tips on tips on waking up early, check them out here.

Drink water

Always stay hydrated.

Workout

After I wake up, I take my pre-workout, brush my teeth, and hit the gym! On rest days, I still get up and just get in a nice stretch and walk.

Listen to an uplifiting audiobook/podcast

I skip music during my workout and opt for selp-help/motivating audiobooks. I actually kick this up a notch and listen to my audiobooks in Spanish so that I get a refresher of the language/pronunciation. If you're not into audiobooks, try a podcast.

Take my apple cider vinegar drink

When I get home, I drink my apple cider vinegar drink. This is also a good time to take whichever vitamins you prefer.

Clean up

Personal hygiene should go without saying, but I'll mention it since it's part of my routine. This is the part of my day where I shower, wash my face, & moisturize.

Remind yourself of your goals

I like to refocus and remind myself of what my long term goals are and why I am working toward them. I love having a vision board for this.

Create a to-do list

Whether this is just in your head or physically written down, figure out everything that needs to be accomplished today. I use this to do list to plan out my day.

Eat a healthy breakfast

My go-to breakfast is either my high protein yogurt parfait or proats (aka protein oatmeal).

Reflect on what you are grateful for

Studies have shown that expressing gratitude daily makes you happier. I love to reflect on what I'm grateful for on my drive home from the gym. I have also instilled this habit in my kids with a slight twist. During breakfast I have them say one thing they love about themselves and one thing they love about their sibling. Initially, these weren't the most sincere, but they have improved and my kids are kinder to each other overall.

I hope this list gave you some inspiration/ideas on different types of habits you can include in your personal morning routines to have a healthier start to your day!

One additional note I wanted to add, is that I did my cardio outside this morning and it had a huge impact. The fresh air just completely lifted me out of the funk I’ve been in and felt so great. I love having access to gym equipment, but I know I will be incorporating more outdoor workouts/walks as often as I can.

My current audiobook is Rachel Hollis’ Girl, Stop Apologizing and one thing she mentioned today was that if you can’t carve 1 hour out of your day to dedicate to yourself, you don’t have a life. It’s harsh, but it’s true.

We spend so much of our time giving to others whether that’s through work or family and friends, that we need time to just be US. Dedicate just 1 hour every morning to focus on yourself and it will make a difference.

Your hour doesn’t have to start at 4 am like mine. That’s just the hour that I choose to use. Pick an hour that works for you and make it part of a healthy morning routine.
